The Ucluelet First Nation Chief and Council is a political body of 7 elected councillors (1 Chief and 6 Councillors) who sit as representatives for a two year term (2010-2012). The Chief and Council govern the community affairs of the tribe, with respect given to the membership.
Under the YFN Treaty, YFN must elect the first members of our own Legislature within six months of Effective Date (April 1, 2011). As such, members of the 2010 - 2012 council term will serve approximately 18 months under the Indian Act; afterwhich, another election will be held.
