The Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Government is a modern treaty government located in the community of hitac̓u on the west coast of Vancouver Island, on the eastern shore of Ucluelet Inlet.

The Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Government is a member of the Maa-nulth Treaty Society and, through the Maa-nulth First Nations Final Agreement, is a modern treaty Nation operating with a government-to- government relationship with Canada and the province of British Columbia. As a Self-Governing Indigenous Government, the Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Government continues to promote education and community programs that enhance Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ identity.

Position Summary

Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Government policies, standards, practices, and procedures, as directed by the Director of Capital Infrastructure and Asset Management or designate. Maintains confidentiality on all matters relating to the affairs of the Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ. The Housekeeper is responsible for providing cleaning services for the Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Government staff accommodations and other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and maintaining designated areas according to YG standards.
  • Performing various cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming.
  • Ensuring all designated areas are cared for and inspected to meet YG standards.
  • Wash laundry including bed linens, towels, shower curtains and blankets as required.
  • Making beds and changing linens as required.
  • Cleaning and stocking bathrooms, replenishing supplies including toilet paper and towels.
  • Emptying trash receptacles and disposing of waste.
  • Maintains a safe working environment and reports any unsafe conditions, maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Director of Capital Infrastructure and Asset Management.
  • Works cooperatively with other staff members as needed.
  • Follows all health and safety regulations, including ensuring that cleaning supplies are stored in a safe location in accordance with the requirements of WHMIS.

Qualifications

Training, Education and Experience
  • Grade 10 or equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience as a cleaner or housekeeper.
  • WHMIS certification (or willing to complete) and knowledge of WorkSafeBC guidelines as applicable.
  • Satisfactory criminal records check.
  • Current Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent client service skills. Friendly, positive, responsive, professional, and helpful.
  • Able to work independently with little supervision while maintaining a high level of performance.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to work efficiently and prioritize tasks.
  • Physical stamina and mobility, including the ability to lift and move heavy objects.
  • Strong attention to detail and thoroughness.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow safe work procedures including hazardous materials.
  • Genuine respect for Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ traditions, culture, and protocols.
